---What is Game Makers 4 Co-operative Futures? ---

We are a knowledge-sharing and support network for gamedevs of all experience levels who are learning about worker co-operatives and why they could very well change the game industry! We operate specifically in the Atlantic region (Newfoundland & Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island). ---Who is this for?---

Maybe you are one of the 70+ members who have joined our GM4CF Discord server after Ubisoft Halifax closed (mere weeks after unionizing)? Or maybe you came across our Start a Coop / Join a Coop zine? Or perhaps you're just curious about other ways to approach game development, ways that actively resist the many problems workers experience with the traditional investor-led business?

Our event is aimed at anyone who is curious! Students, graduates, teachers, artists, programmers, junior devs, senior staff, East Coasters or from outside the ATL region... all are welcome!

---What is the agenda?---

We're getting together both physically and digitally for the first time to meet each other, discuss the state of the industry, and explore how co-operatives are positioned to make better work environments, stable employment, and replenish our community!  

We'll also talk about upcoming opportunities to help run the network collaboratively, and the establishment of a fully funded business hub dedicated to worker co-operatives (coming soon to the ATL region)!

5 - 7pm EST / 6 - 8pm AST, Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026 

---Where is it?---

We've partnered with the Dal Interactive Gamedev Society in Halifax, NS, to run the in-person version of the meeting at the Dalhousie Student Union Building, Room 224.

We'll have pizza and refreshments on hand! Our in-person participants will be able to connect via live-stream to community members attending online. Big thank you to DIG for supporting our inaugural meeting and other future events (listen out for a fundraiser on Feb 27th)!

For our members who still want to meet in-person but not able to reach the meetup at Dalhousie, why not organise to watch the livestream with people in your area? If you can get together 3 or more people, we'll pay for some tasty takeaway pizza! Just make sure to let us you're doing it on our Discord server (https://discord.gg/KPjzFNkhQB)!

Financial aid: If financial restraints are preventing you from attending any GM4CF event, or you belong to an Equity Denied Group, please reach out on the Discord server to be considered for a small travel grant!
